Para una venezolana, el concurso del Miss Universo es como la final del Mundial de fútbol. Después de todo, Venezuela tiene el récord de más Miss Universo en los 63 años de historia del certamen, siete reinas. El amor por las “misses” es tal, que el proceso para escoger a la nueva Miss Venezuela se ha convertido en un programa de reality TV, en el que las concursantes viven en una casa y son filmadas constantemente, al mejor estilo Gran Hermano, por varias semanas hasta llegar al día final de coronación.
Por eso, la noticia de que la empresa WME/ING había adquirido el concurso me alegró muchísimo. No habría sido fácil boicotear la transmisión por aquello de no darle ni una onza de atención o dinero al dueño anterior que tanto nos ha insultado a los latinos. Lo iba hacer, lo juro, pero no hubiera sido fácil. Aun así, tenía otro problema. ¿Dónde verlo? Aplaudí de pie y con emoción la decisión de Univision de rechazar sus derechos de transmisión, tras las palabras del innombrable, pero ¿y ahora? Ya me veía sufriendo con la transmisión en inglés que, como en el fútbol, nunca es igual a la nuestra.
Afortunadamente, Azteca América decidió comprar los derechos para transmitir el Miss Universo en español. Y, aun mejor, este canal está entre los que ofrece KlowdTV.com/MissUniverso. Confieso que conocí este servicio de televisión por Internet hace poco y me ha sorprendido la versatilidad de la oferta de canales que tienen, en especial los de fútbol y en español. Eso, por no hablar de los precios. Se puede comprar el paquete de canales mexicanos por $3 al mes y el resto por poco más. Casi me caí para atrás cuando me enteré.
En pocas palabras, el domingo me voy a ver el concurso de Miss Universo en español por Azteca América, através de Klowdtv y como se puede ver en la tableta, ni siquiera tendré que estar atada al televisor o a la computadora. ¡Qué buenos tiempos estos que vivimos!

For a Venezuelan, the Miss Universe pageant is like the Superbowl, the Macy´s Thanksgiving parade and the New Year’s Rose Parade all into one. After all, Venezuela has the record of most Miss Universes, seven in the 63 years. The love for the “Misses” is such, that the process to chose the new Miss Venezuela has become a reality show and the top contestants live in a house, being recorded all the time, in similar fashion to the Big Brother format, for weeks before the final day of the pageant.
I confess that my heart did a little dance when I read the news in September 2015 that WME/IMG was the new owner of the franchise and I didn’t have to boycott it for political and moral reasons. That left me with the problem of where to watch it. While I strongly applauded Univision’s decision of severe cuts with the organization due to the attacks against Latinos of the previous owner, things had changed and I was convinced that watching the Miss Universe 2015 in Spanish was going to be challenge. Why was the language important? Honestly, it’s the same with soccer. It’s just doesn’t feel the same in English. Sorry!
Luckily, Azteca America has now the rights to the transmission in Spanish language for the U.S. and even better, this is one of the channels in Klowdtv´s line up. If you don´t know this service of TV via Internet you should check it out. I only heard recently about it and I’m a little obsessed. They have a nice offer of International TV channels, including a lot from Latin America and the prices are incredible. There is a package for Mexican TV channels — which includes Azteca– for only $3 a month. I´m not kidding.
So you know what I will be doing on Sunday night: Watching Miss Universe 2015 from Las Vegas on Azteca America, via KlowdTV.com/MissUniverso.
